Our clients had put a lot of effort into the front of their home and wanted to have the same stylish, yet simple look to the rear, however the garden had become very outdated. The large concrete pond in the centre of the garden was causing maintenance issues, while the crazy paving of the terrace area was a clear sign of how long it had been since any work had been done. The clients were also wanting to make use of their side return, incorporating the front garden into the rear.
Our main aim was to bring the garden into the 21st century and we achieved this by adding beautiful sawn sandstone paving to create an outdoor seating area. We wanted to maintain the informal feel of the garden by using curves both in the garden and around the patio area. The addition of a circular wall broke up the space, creating zones and interest
In this case there was no specific planting as the customers chose to add bedding plants to the circular wall at a later date.
The garden has been given new life and now has a defined space for seating. It now sits comfortably with the front of the house and the side of the house is a useful and easily accessed area. The clients are delighted and use the garden much more often as a result.
