Thorburn Landscapes is about much more than just gardening – it is about a passion for nature, the look on our client’s faces when their dream is revealed and the joy of watching families grow as their garden does. It is just the pure pleasure of taking your garden from the seed of an idea through to the final product and employing all of our expertise and knowledge to make that happen.

We believe that your garden should be an extension of your home or business. It should naturally flow and be used as a practical space all year round.
As part of this commitment, we offer a full service list including hard landscaping such as paving and decking, construction such as pergolas and garden rooms and of course, beautiful extras like lighting and water features. However, if all you want is a vegetable patch and some year round colour, we are happy to provide that too.

But it is not just our knowledge and attention to detail that sets us apart and which has built our reputation – it is the fact that we put our customers first.

Stephen Thorburn

Stephen Thorburn is the man behind the magic. As someone who has helped hundreds of clients to establish their gardens, he is probably as passionate about your garden as you are. From the early days, when he worked weekends for a landscaping company during Secondary School, Stephen knew that gardening was his future.

Stephen studied at the well known and respected Capel Manor, where he received a Diploma in Garden Design. With these qualifications, which are recognised by the Royal Horticultural Society and an NPTC in Hard Landscape and Garden Construction, he also has the knowledge to ensure your project runs smoothly. It is Stephen’s job to advise you, talk through your options and to work with you on a design that meets all your needs.

As a hands-on member of the team, Stephen also gets his hands dirty and truly loves to see an old and tired garden getting a new lease of life. His inspiration comes from the beauty that he can create and maintain. Nothing gives him more pleasure than knowing his gardening has allowed the homeowner to enjoy the space as it should be.

Our Team

We pride ourselves on our friendly and knowledgeable team members. Each and every one has a passion for garden, for getting it right and for providing the very best service to our clients.

As part of our commitment to our customers we only hire the very best talent with the experience to create gardens that set us apart. All staff go through our bespoke training scheme to ensure that they are doing things the “Thorburn” way. They are also trained in health and safety and have regular skills training to keep them up to date.

Our gardeners are required to have a high level knowledge of plants so that they can offer on the spot advice and all of our staff are permanent employees. We never hire temps as we love to create relationships with our staff to get the best from them.

We are lucky to have a happy team of gardeners, builders and designers – all of whom are a part of the Thorburn family.
